Searchable Technology Database
Created To Help State’s Small Businesses
November 1, 2005
CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation have created a searchable on-line database system designed to help aid small businesses in the use of leading-edge technologies and tech services. The database is a new feature added to the web site of the West Virginia Small Business Technology Education and Competitiveness Initiative – www.wvconnectivity.net. It contains listings of companies and firms that provide hardware, software and technology services to businesses in West Virginia.
WVConnectivity.net is a web portal for an ongoing statewide program to encourage small business people to use broadband and Web-based technologies to improve business performance, expand market opportunities and enhance competitiveness.
“This database is designed to provide a quick and convenient way for businesses to search for technology services and tech vendor companies,” said Steve Roberts, President of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “If a business person needs web and technology services or equipment, he or she now can search for providers either by reviewing the company index listings or by selecting specific parameters in the company search feature,” he continued. “The objective is to connect small businesses that have technology needs with those businesses that can provide solutions – a win-win for all.”
The database’s search methods allow an individual to qualify potential technology vendors by a variety of different criteria - location, service, keyword, etc.
- Find a large listing of potential technology vendors and service companies.
- Locate a telecommunications and broadband provider.
- Find technology vendors based on competencies to match your desired solutions.
- Gain access to a variety of search methods to fine-tune desired technology vendors.
The database system was developed by the West Virginia High Technology Consortium, which has created an integrated knowledge management system for membership organizations. The consortium’s suite of web-based tools designed to provide ready-made, interchangeable applications to present and organize critical information and data.
The new database is available to any company that provides technology hardware or software vendor, or any company that provides technology services, Roberts noted. There is no charge for a company to add its listing to the database.
