Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) is a statewide network that provides manufacturers with regional access to advanced CNC equipment, affordable workforce development and technical training programs that are designed and customized meet the needs and demands of manufacturers. In addition, RCBI assists manufacturers with implementation of documented quality systems to ensure they remain effective suppliers while providing assistance to compete for Department of Defense (DoD) contract opportunities.

For more than a decade, RCBI has provided more than 600 technical training initiatives to 5,000 individuals who represent more than 600 industrial firms from West Virginia and the surrounding region.

21st Century Manufacturing Network

The 21st Century Manufacturing Network is a program of the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing at Marshall University. The goal of the 21st Manufacturing Network is to help move small and medium sized manufacturers into the 21st Century through improved use of technology and expert assistance for Department of Defense and commercial contracting opportunities, as well as on-line networking. RCBI Bridgeport Manufacturing Technology Center

RCBI Bridgeport Manufacturing Technology Center operations have expanded with the addition of the RCBI Composites Technology & Training Center. This initiative, in partnership with NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, includes comprehensive composites training capabilities, design, analysis, development, evaluation and demonstration of affordable advanced composite materials. The manufacturing partnership will support the aerospace industry, including NASA and NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, the DoD, and commercial industries.
